A holiday mashup by Red Knuckles and the Trailblazers. They are a Texas Swing band under the auspices of the bluegrass band Hot Rize. The recording is available on Sugar Hill’s “Sugar Plums” collection of holiday songs.

This particular song mixes both lyrics and melody motifs within and between verses of Chestnuts Roasting, White Christmas, Little Drummer Boy, and Happy Birthday. Quite clever, IMO, but these kinds of songs don’t float everyone’s boat, I know.

I have tried to preserve the feel of this piece on solo ukulele, key of D… a challenge since Red Knuckles’ band includes slide electric table, two guitars (rhythm & lead), drums and bass.
